The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to trade All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for four draft picks, including a first-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, according to ESPN and multiple media reports. The deal marks one of the most significant defensive transactions of the NFL offseason.

The Rams will receive McDuffie, while Kansas City will acquire the No. 29 overall pick in the 2026 draft, along with fifth- and sixth-round selections in the same draft and a third-round pick in 2027, ESPN reported.

McDuffie, 25, has emerged as one of the league’s top defensive backs since being selected by Kansas City with the 21st overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2023 and has been a key contributor to the Chiefs’ defense during their recent championship runs.

Last season, McDuffie recorded 63 tackles, one interception and a forced fumble across 13 games, according to team statistics cited in media reports. Over 56 career starts with the Chiefs, he has totaled 246 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 34 pass breakups and three interceptions.

The move gives Los Angeles a proven shutdown cornerback as the team looks to strengthen its secondary ahead of the 2026 season. The Rams retain another first-round selection — the 13th overall pick — acquired previously from the Atlanta Falcons, providing additional flexibility entering the draft.

For Kansas City, the trade adds draft capital and continues a recent pattern of dealing high-profile defensive backs rather than committing to large contract extensions. The Chiefs previously traded cornerback L’Jarius Sneed in 2024 amid contract negotiations.

Reports indicate McDuffie is expected to negotiate a long-term contract with the Rams following the trade, though financial terms have not been publicly confirmed.

The situation remains under development as teams finalize offseason roster moves ahead of the upcoming NFL Draft.
