Thousands of users across the United States reported problems accessing X down on Tuesday, citing widespread service disruptions affecting both the mobile app and website. The outage, which began in the afternoon, prevented users from loading timelines, sending posts, or viewing notifications, according to tracking data and user reports.

Monitoring site Downdetector showed a sharp spike in complaints, with reports peaking shortly after the initial disruptions were detected. Users in major cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston were among those reporting issues, suggesting the problem was not limited to a single region.

Many affected users said they encountered error messages or blank feeds when attempting to access the platform, while others reported being logged out unexpectedly. The issues appeared to impact both iOS and Android applications, as well as desktop browsers.

The company did not immediately issue a public statement explaining the cause of the disruption or providing a timeline for full service restoration. No confirmation was given on whether the outage was related to a technical failure, system update, or other internal issue.

By early evening, some users reported partial restoration of service, though intermittent problems persisted for others. Downdetector data indicated that while reports had declined from their peak, they remained above normal levels.

The platform has experienced several notable outages in recent years, often attributed to infrastructure changes or backend system issues. However, no official cause had been confirmed as of publication.
