Oscar Winners 2026: “One Battle After Another” Takes Best Picture as Jordan, Buckley Win Acting Awards

Los Angeles, United States– The film “One Battle After Another” won Best Picture at the 98th Academy Awards on March 15 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, with filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson also taking Best Director as the movie led the night with six Oscars, according to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The ceremony recognized films released in 2025.

Actor Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor for his performance in the film Sinners, marking his first Academy Award and first nomination in the category, according to the Academy’s official winners list.

Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for her role in Hamnet, becoming the first Irish woman to receive the award in that category, industry reports said.

The awards ceremony took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and was hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien. The event honored cinematic achievements across 24 categories, recognizing films released during the 2025 eligibility year.

In supporting acting categories, Sean Penn won Best Supporting Actor for One Battle After Another, marking his third Oscar, while Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Weapons.

The night also highlighted strong performances by several other films. Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, received the most nominations with 16 and ultimately secured four awards, including Best Actor and Best Cinematography.

Among other major winners, Norway’s Sentimental Value won Best International Feature Film, while the documentary Mr. Nobody Against Putin took Best Documentary Feature. The animated feature award went to KPop Demon Hunters, and Avatar: Fire and Ash won for Visual Effects.

Industry observers noted that theatrical releases dominated the top categories, with studios including Warner Bros. collecting multiple awards during the ceremony.

The Academy Awards are widely regarded as the film industry’s highest honors, recognizing achievements in directing, acting, writing, technical crafts and global filmmaking.
